About Me
I earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the City College of CUNY, one of the top programs in NYC, where my intensive training was equally focused on adults, children, and adolescents. Prior to that, my background was in developmental psychology and attachment research, which I began as an undergraduate. My doctoral training culminated in an internship and a subsequent fellowship at St. Lukes's Roosevelt Hospital where I worked with adults, young adults and adolescents. I established my private practice in 1996 while also working as a clinician in other settings, which included Trinity School and The Jewish Board for Family and Children Services. For the past 18 years, I have been working exclusively in private practice and have been teaching and supervising.
My perspective and ability to flexibly employ different vantage points as a psychologist is informed by having worked in a wide variety of settings, with a great diversity of people and by having worn many different "hats" over many years. I have been enriched by my experiences as an individual psychotherapist for people across the lifespan, as a family, couples and group therapist, school psychologist, a researcher, neuropsychological evaluator, public speaker, clinical supervisor, adjunct professor, and consultant to colleagues, schools and organizations.
I find it personally rewarding and also professionally imperative to keep learning and growing. I frequently attend professional trainings, conferences and workshops. To further deepen my therapeutic work and continue to expand my skills, I pursued intensive postgraduate training in psychoanalysis and graduated from the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, where I was the recipient of several fellowships. I am affiliated with several professional organizations: the New York State Psychological Association, Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association, and the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
In addition to the great satisfaction and enjoyment I experience in my clinical work, I enjoy the dynamic experience of teaching mental health professionals. I am a faculty member and clinical supervisor in the Adult Training Program in Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy (4 year program) and in the National Training Program in Contemporary Psychoanalysis of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP) and at the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, in both the Adult Program and Child and Adolescent Program. I am also a Clinical Supervisor of adult and adolescent psychotherapy in the City College Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, where previously, as an Adjunct Assistant Professor I taught a popular course on adolescent development and clinical work.
